Astrology is the science where the study of the auspicious and inauspicious effects of celestial bodies such as planets and stars on humans and Earth is conducted. Although the term "Jyotish" literally means the knowledge of celestial bodies and constellations (principles), common people mostly interpret it as the study of predictive astrology.
फलित ज्योतिष उस विद्या को कहते हैं जिसमें मनुष्य तथा पृथ्वी पर, ग्रहों और तारों के शुभ तथा अशुभ प्रभावों का अध्ययन किया जाता है। ज्योतिष शब्द का यौगिक अर्थ ग्रह तथा नक्षत्रों से संबंध (सिद्धांत) ज्योतिष का भी बोध होता है, तथापि साधारण लोग ज्योतिष विद्या से फलित विद्या का अर्थ ही लेते हैं।
The positions of planets and stars are constantly changing, so their influence on events varies moment by moment. A person's birth chart is created based on the positions of these celestial bodies at the time of birth. By studying these planetary positions and the periods of planetary influences (dashas and antardashas), one can gain insight into the events that may occur in a person's life.
ग्रह तथा नक्षत्रों की स्थिति प्रति क्षण परिवर्तनशील है, अतएव प्रति क्षण में होनेवाली घटनाओं पर ग्रह तथा नक्षत्रों का प्रभाव भी विभिन्न प्रकार का पड़ता है।मनुष्य के जन्म के समय जो ग्रह नक्षत्र की स्तिथि होती है उससे कुंडली बनती है ।इन ग्रह नक्षत्र का अध्ययन करके और दशा , अंतर दशा का अध्ययन करके मनुष्य के जीवन में होने वाली घटनाओं का बोध किया जाता है ।
